On my trip back from being up north this past weekend, my son and I did a lot of "What if..." type games on the ride home. Thought it might be a cool idea here to ask one very simple question, whose talents do you wish you had. This doesn't necessarily ask the question of who you think are the greatest guitarists in history, but who do you enjoy and most wish you could play like.

BTW, before I start; don't get all philisophical with this and say you would rather create your own music and wouldn't want to copy anyone. It's NOT that deep, simply looking at it as if YOU could play the guitar with the same abilities as some of your guitar heroes, who would they be? Or, if you are already such an incredible guitarist, name the 5 that you love but can play better than (all egos aside, of course )

So the question is:

*********************************************
If you could play guitar exactly like anyone in
history, who would be your top 5 choices.
*********************************************

And so we are clear, it doesn't HAVE to be rock guitarists. I mean, we're on a rock forum, but it could be anyone from jazz to classical to blues to country to rock .... acoustic or electric. It's all good.

I could change my list on a semi-regular basis, I'm sure, but realistically, I think the top 4 are all pretty much set in stone...

1) George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob, Souls of We)
2) Eddie Van Halen
3) Jake E Lee (Ozzy, Badlands)
4) Stevie Ray Vaughan
5) Kirk Hammett (Metallica)

Honorable Mention for Eugene Hutz. He's strictly an acoustic, rhythm guitarist but I absolutely love this playing style and watching him play.
