So where did I say or even imply that you said something about the Sex Pistols? I would have quoted you specifically in that case. (You may have noticed that I like to do that.) Do not attempt to put words into my mouth.
But whether you've opined on the Sex Pistols previously is completely irrelevant. I have the right to provide my own examples/counter-examples, as do you.
Sorry. Not only could the Clash not be a punk band by my definition, it could not be a punk band by yours. After all, the Clash were signed to CBS Records, another real biggie.
Boy, do you ever go down easy.
Fox I do not go down easily. I just can not stand ignorance.
That is not my definition of punk rock. That is what most people in the genre think.
Well it does not really matter if you think the Clash are punk or not because most in the genre agree they were and that they had a huge influence on it. They also used their fame for good. Rock Against Racism.
Your opinion on that is void.
Your counter points have nothing to do with my posts, you try to counter something that is not there. Since I did not mention the Pistols bringing them up into the conversation is pointless. You conisder them a punk band as do I, but I also consider the majority of members with the exception of Rotten a bunch of posuers and fashion driven rather than the mind set of punk rock.
Like a said there is a difference between posuer and sell out. Learn it.
Oh and please show me where I said I THINK PUNK ROCK IS.
I did not.
Again you try to put words into my mouth and missread what I wrote.
The Clash a punk band, the Sex Pistols a media created punk band that said **** you to everyone.
Both are punk bands.
My definition of punk rock - musical freedom, but not selling yourself to make more money. Meaning selling out.
Like I said with Nirvana. They were punk IMO and did good with their fame, but also made fun of it at the same time.
Boy Fox, seems like you are picking a fight at this point.
Keep going I will not respond. Your "boy do you ever go down easy" comment is extremely childish.
I do not find it funny at all.
Taste in music is subjective. The genre of music somtimes, but not when it comes to punk rock.
I will let this get back on topic since it was thrown off topic.
