Well I do have Time and Xanadu but not Zoom or Balance of Power. Considering Jeff was the same to ELO that Ian Anderson is to Jethro Tull what makes you categorize Zoom as a solo album instead of a regular ELO release?

The same thing with Jethro Tull's "A". Zoom had only two original members, rest of them were only guests and so it didn't have that feel of previous albums.

Wolf, I lost interest in ELO when "Discovery" came out...however due to pressure from my friends in here...Sox, MP, Annie I have picked up a few of their later albums. But they will never supplant the early work for me either, I love ELO right up to "A New World Record" and "Out of the Blue" was okay.

Yep, that's exactly how I feel, LG.

That's a good comparison, I would also put "Under Wraps" in the 'Solo' Ian Anderson group more than a pure Tull recording.

All this ELO chat has me inspired, think I'll play Eldorado later.:mn:

Had a look at the reissue of Electric Light Orchestra today and it looks mighty fine, great album, I think I will reinvest as it has the 4.1 dvd with the promo film:grinthumb

I like Telephone Line now - - I think because it reminds me of simpler/innocent times before cell phones/answering machines/caller ID, etc.

Telephone Line was one of many songs that made me hear the influence they had on Cheap Trick much louder.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

My brother's first child is named after a song written by Lynne, even though he never got credit for the song, he did write it. Angie by the Stones, was written in that little Apt in Columbus, my brother has the original paper it was written on :)

Anyway, I may be able to raid his photo album.....I will see if he will share his pictures!
Are you serious?! Jeff Lynne's lyrical talent is even greater than i imagined, though it doesn't sound too much like his kind of writing. Anyways, i can't believe you met Jeff, i'm so jealous!
