Even though “the boss” doesn’t require an introduction, here’s one anyway (taken from Wikipedia):
Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born September 23, 1949), is an American singer-songwriter. He records and tours with the E Street Band. Springsteen is widely known for his brand of heartland rock infused with pop hooks, poetic lyrics, and Americana sentiments centered on his native New Jersey.
Springsteen's recordings have tended to alternate between commercially accessible rock albums and somber folk-oriented works. Much of his status stems from the concerts and marathon shows in which he and the E Street Band perform intense ballads, rousing anthems, and party rock and roll songs, amongst which he intersperses whimsical or deeply emotional stories.
His most famous albums Born to Run and Born in the U.S.A., epitomize his penchant for finding grandeur in the struggles of daily life in America. He has gradually become identified with liberal politics. He is also noted for his support of various relief and rebuilding efforts in New Jersey and elsewhere, and for his response to the September 11th attacks on which his album The Rising reflects.
He has earned numerous awards for his work, including nineteen Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award, and continues to have a strong global fan base. He has sold more than 65 million albums in the United States and 120 million worldwide.
We all know him, most of us like him... Maybe you don't? Then tell us why?
If you do like him, which albums do you like exactly? Because, although Wiki states his most "famous" albums, those aren't the only ones I like best myself...
Hell, I couldn't narrow it down to 2 albums at all...
There's Born To Run, his third album... with all those different influences in it... I read once that it was his first commercial success, and I absolutely understand why... Songs like born to run and thunder road tend to end up high in my all time favourite lists...
Following that he made Darkness on the edge of town which was highly underrated in my opinion... That one sure as hell is, for me personally, one of his best albums...
We cant forget The river either...
Following up are Nebraska, Born in the USA and tunnel of love All on my "best albums by Bruce" list also... That man just made 5 great albums (from 1975 to 1987), one after the other, as if it didn't take any effort...
Aside from his 5-streak great albums I also listen to The Ghost of Tom Joad alot..
Mikal Gilmore of Rolling Stone called it "Springsteen's best album in ten years," and considered it "among the bravest work that anyone has given us this decade."
I agree. It was one of his better works in a while... New, fresh and eager to be liked.
And then there is The Rising... Love that one also
Sooo! Which albums do you like best ??????? Because I tend to like alot of them practically...
