I'm not necesarily voting for my favourites but more for the attributes the band did have like lyrical context, musical composition, influences from the past to the present, albums sold, etc.
1. Metallica
2. Iron Maiden
3. Slayer
4. Motely Crue
5. Motorhead
For me, I don't consider AC/DC heavy metal, rather hard rock.
Firstly, what a great thread, how did I miss this!!! Secondly I love some of the comments on this thread, LG you make me laugh when you talk about people who have to look something up to define something, people should have their own opinions, I have mine!! Like poison and Def Leppard are not metal fact !! Ha Ha. I agree that you just push play and listen, however there are different types of music and it has all been said before but I will throw my coins in the fountain if I may.
Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, Saxon, Trouble, Metallica are all classic metal bands regardless of when they started they all played a part in defining a type of music and they all have their own style and DNA.
There are others that are classed as metal music and I know people have their faves but this is the only metal track ever fact!!! lol
Metallica is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a 13 and 7 yr old both boys.....who have mastered Motorhead on RockBand.......my youngest can identify the bands by the second note.....
I stick by my picks here. But I guess it depends on your definition of "heavy metal". talking on the whole? or a specific sub-genre could change my list. But for a general "Heavy Metal", yeah, I'll stick with my list.
