I never heard Boston live, so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of how Delp managed to deliver such vocals live. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who actually experienced his singing on stage.

I saw Boston live here in Vancouver with Foreigner in the mid 80's....great concert
Brad did an awesome job on the songs...it was almost like listening to the albums but the drums sounded louder and better.
