There was a band I remembered last night who were around in the 60's called 'The United States of America' whose career probably lasted for about 40 minutes - or basically about as long as it took anybody to play their only album through once.
They released a couple of singles from it, here's one...
Music like this usually only makes any real sense if you are wearing a kaftan and a Pocahontas headband, and you're on about your 19th tab of LSD, especially the 3 or 4 bits in this track, after the girl begins singing, where the music totally grinds to a halt about every 30 seconds whilst a space ship from the Planet Zog lifts off, that really is worth a listen. It's actually quite hilarious, which I guarantee wasn't the bands intention, the album I found out made it to position #181 in the Billboard charts in the Summer of Love '67.
In their defence there is a track on the album called "I Won't Leave My Wooden Wife for You, Sugar" which surely has to be in the Top 100 best song titles ever.
One of my absolute favorites that I purchased last year Sweaty. "Do What You Like" is a lengthy track but just the perfect showcase for each artist to show off their skills and what made them so great individually and in their respective projects. Do you know why BF didn't continue on?
Orion The Hunter with former Boston members Barry Goudreau and Fran Cosmo.Brad Delp did backup vocals.Cosmo joined Boston after Orion The Hunter and shared lead vocals with Delp.
