Some ideas

I don't mind an honest system P&C, but some people will negative rep someone just because they are new, or because they disagree with them about a band or something else.

It just doesn't reflect the reality of the good contributors and the....well pranksters for lack of a better term don't take it seriously .

Yeah, I can agree completely.

The only issue I can see with the star system is this. Since the idea was that it'd be revolved around post count, that could possibly have an affect on the quality of posts from users just to get to a certain amount of posts. I'm not saying the idea is a bad one at all, i've seen it done successfully before, but that also leaves a door open for people to start going on a posting craze with like...1 to 2 worded posts just to get their post count up.

I don't mind a short smiley exchange interspersed in a good fun discussion between people, and we can take care of any spurious outbreak of smiley disease if that happened.

I am fine the way things are now, but if the people want something to add a little sparkle then I have no problem with that.

Oh I don't mind either, it was just something i've seen happen, but I don't think it'll happen here, considering a lot of us are very high quality posters. The smiley exchange is pretty fun as well. I get involved with it sometimes myself

I'm all for the star idea. It seems like it'd be pretty cool.

I have never thought much of the reputation system, it ends up becoming a "clique" thing more than a reflection on genuine contributions to the forum in general.(I have never seen it used properly in any forum I've been part of.)

I think a star or something else would be okay though if the members want something like that added.

I agree with this, I'm on a Bengals message board and a while back people would make threads asking for "Rep 4 Rep".

Maybe if the rep was added by mods or admins who deemed necessary.

I think the stars/other icon + rep given from admins/mods wouldn't be a bad idea.

Also a video game section (not for Forum games) would be nice. I know I would help keep it active

If needed I could mod the video game forum.

We have discussed the arcade option in the past, and I have spoken with other admins who have them on their forums, and they really don't like the addition. I know it is a cool feature for people who do like to play games, but I just dont know if it is a good idea for a music forum. I am not totally closed minded on this, but I would want to hear what other members have to say about it............

I've been administrating my own forum with +3k users and after launching Arcade section most of them were focused on just that, which meant the average of daily posts had decreased quite a lot.

Moderating 1 section shouldn't be too hard. Yeah it's not really necessary anyways, we have plenty of good mods already.
