I can't say who is the biggest (based on sales?) but Grace Slick has to be among the most talented and respected ... :)

Oh man, Flower, you are truly a... beautiful flower. Grace Slick.:D

The Wilson sisters, Chrissie Hynde (underrated) and Janis Joplin come to mind as well.

I thought the same thing Thumper, & thought I must've missed something but I've never heard her referred to as the Queen of Rock. If you type in the search 'Queen of Rock and Roll Tina Turner' of course your going to get results but the same thing happens when you type in 'Queen of Rock and Roll Joan Jett' or 'Queen of Rock and Roll Ann Wilson' or 'Queen of Rock and Roll Janis Joplin'

Just type in "Queen of Rock and Roll" then and see who pops up the most.

I completely agree with the folks that said Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, and Patti Smith.

She's not really much of a rocker, but I'd also give Joni Mitchell some credit.

Definitely Ann and Nancy Wilson for me, I've liked Heart since 1974.

Joan Jett, Deborah Harry, Pat Benatar, are a few that come to mind as well.

Never liked Patti Smith or Janis Joplin myself.

no way would I call Tina Turner "the queen of rock" or even the biggest female rock star of all time. In fact, before this thread I've never heard ANYONE ever even hint at that.

For ROCK, it would have to be either Pat Benatar or the Wilson Sisters. no one else comes close
