Wilco was the brains behind Dr Feelgood, writing most of their original material, as well as being one of the most distinctive and slightly unsettling guitar players. He should have gone on to great commercial success along with many lesser talents, but somehow he remained underrated. I saw him with Ian Dury and the excellent Blockheads, but Dury was disappointing and Wilco seemed under-used. John Mayo is a fine guitarist, but Lee Brilleaux and Wilco should have remained together.
As has already been said, this is sad news and I wish him well. Wilco is a one-off, there are none like him.
