Following The Grateful Dead, would be Eric Clapton.

I have EC's whole discography...

The Yardbirds
John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers
Cream
Blind Faith
The Plastic Ono Band
Delaney & Bonnie & Friends
Derek and the Dominos

And all EC's solo albums, live albums, 2 box sets and some bootlegs.

I have a lot of band's complete discograhies on CD - I been collecting music for a long time now. The Beatles, Stones, Who, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Dylan, Doors, Sabbath, Neil Young and tons of other artists and bands.

Usually, if I like the band, I have all or most of their albums.

And once you get to know me better, you'll find out I love A LOT of classic rock bands A - Z from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

90's, 50's too.

I probably have more CDs than radio station!

:lmao:

I takes two rooms to store my CD collection.

I'm not trying to brag or show off or impress anyone - it's just I'm a music fanatic! - and I always was since I was a kid.

You know if you feel motivated you could write a Dead thread for us,,,I haven't looked but having new arrivals write for bands they love is what we are all about.

And you might even brainwash me to become a Dead Head myself...:gg:

I might, LD...It's just, I'm not a eloquent writer.

I'm more of a responder to a thread nowadays.

But, I might start a Dead thread in the future.

And as far as The Grateful Dead's music, I find either you love or hate them - there's usually no middle ground.

better not give me your address, find all your cd's missing... I'll put them back I swear, it just might take a few days:D
I love seeing collections like that, my friends dad had an EPIC and I hate the word, but "Epic" is the only thing to describe this collection of cassettes and cd's it was a full room lined ceiling to floor, wall to wall, with music...

and don't worry about your writing prowess, just copy a bit from wikipedia, put in some of your own words, this doesn't need to be a literary masterpice... hell, you don't even need proper grammar:eek:hyeah:

and definitely agreed about you either love them or hate them... or just don't care:tongue:
It took me a very long time to appreciate them (as some of you may know, I was a very single minded individual at one point and wouldn't try anything new, but I heard Truckin' a few years ago and I had no idea who it was.. I finally found out a year later when I was more open to new ideas and I basically said to myself "no shit.. this is GD...why didn't I listen to them before?" then I got the skeletons in the closet LP and well... I just grew from there... I found out my uncle saw them about 150 times...and my dad likes them a lot, but my dad and I have always seen eye to eye on music so that's no shock, anyways.... enough of my boring rambling... yeah, you either love them or hate them... just one of those things:tongue:

Heck, I'd lend you CDs in a heart beat. It's all about music. If your a big music lover, you're a friend of mine.

My friend's uncle had a big record collection. We used to go over there all the time and record albums on cassettes. Then we got jobs and hit the record stores evey weekend.

my dad and I have always seen eye to eye on music

And that's a very cool thing. :grinthumb

My Dad always used to yell, ''Turn that jungle music down!"

So, you're lucky!

Very Nice of you, I've always tried to be that way with some of my friends, but I learned that if I give them the real copy I will not ever see it again, but I never had a problem making a copy for them, but ipods also helped our sharing of music, one of the few technology advancements I like, a nice easy to use, big storage mp3 player

it was very weird though, my friend's dad had no records:wtf:
not like in the attic or anything, he said he just never bought any, and he just listened to friend's as he was growing up, then once he got older just bought them all over time... I've seen music stores with less of a selection

Yeah, I know I'm damn lucky for the way my dad and I get along:D
and musically, I like a bit more than he does, but for the most part we have unbelievably similar taste, and he's never really cared what I listened to... my mom, had a hard time the first time I brought home a stack of 12 or 13 cd's a friend loaned me and all of them had "the label" on them... she also didn't like me listening to what I did in my punk rock phase, but we steal eachothers music every once in a while:D

I never got jungle music

"smut", "crap", "garbage" were all words of choice though

scratch that, my dad did tell me to turn my jungle music down once..... I was listening to "Apeman" from the Kinks a bit loud late a night, maybe that doesn't count though:lmao:

I'm getting like that, hitting the record shop every opportunity I get.

Problem is, I'm spending faster than I'm earning at the moment :lmao:

Ah well, I'm gonna be applying for a higher paying job soon, so more music for Feldy! :grinthumb

Ironically, even though The Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite artist they come in second to my second favorite artist Tori simply because she's released more goodies to buy! On this count I excluded interview disc, solo albums and side projects but included all the EPs I've bought for each artist. I also counted each double disc and box set as one!

Tori Amos (29)

Smashing Pumpkins (18)

I should mention that I bought 4 versions of Zeitgeist but only counted one! :grinthumb

WOW Soot!...

those bands must be recording machines... they haven't even been around all that long, well compared to some of the others mentioned, I knew SP had a bunch of albums, but I didn't realize that many, and I've never listened to Tori, I'll check her out though:D
the only Amos I've ever listened to is Amos Moses:tongue:

This is the thing with the best artist. They don't stop creating so those who still love the act of digging for c.d.s can keep looking for treasures even when they don't have the next album out. Both these artist release just of great of material for b-sides, remixes and live tracks as they do album material. I remember when I first started buying c.d.s and I went to a Circuit city I grabbed anything that said Pumpkins even if it cost ten bucks and only had one track that I previously had not owned. I miss that excitement as stores have cut their shelf space for c.d.s and these extras are gone from the racks. You can still find them at independent music stores though! :grinthumb

now I just have to find an independent music store:think:
I'll use Tom Petty for an example.... even with the live '76 bootleg, all three anthologies, and one live album, I don't think it would be above 26 and they've been around since 1976 as opposed to what, early 90s?, and they are still together

I have three different ones I check but they involve some cool road/shopping trips as they are all roughly two hours away down state. I guarantee Tom Petty has rarities. I'm sure he's released singles with b-sides on them. You just have to check every music store you go to obsessively. I much prefer this scavenging to internet scavenging by the way. The clicking of an internet search engine is just a lifeless way of searching for me but in a music shop I just get excited as I eyeball for material. The internet is good for stuff I'll never be able to acquire a physical copy of. For example, I never thought that Billy Corgans first band The Marked would ever have songs on youtube and while doing my Smashing Pumpkins thread I got to hear it for the first time. It's not ownership but if I know that's the closest I'll get to the material then it's better than nothing and a gift just to experience that history! :grinthumb
