If it were an isolated event maybe. But this is a pattern of raunchy over the top derpery that included public sex displays, ramming a chicken inside one of them in a supermarket etc.

Similar things would not be tolerated in any civilized country and those officials who are crying outrage are hypocrites who just have a problem with Putin and are using this passive agressive smear to fling poo in his direction.

Now, I am no fan of Putin or the current Russian government. And their election may well have been rigged. But the way these idiots are going about it only embarresses what could be a legitimate protest. It kind of makes you wonder who's side they really are on.

I do; however, believe that they think their protest is doing something good. For some it may just be a publicity stunt designed to make them famous (and no doubt among certain circles they are already guaranteed at least that) but I'll bet at least a few are deluded enough to believe that this could shine positive light on their grievances.

Raise The Alarm - The Living End

I may not believe in God,
It doesn't mean I'm a lesser person.
I still have a heart,
And I know what it feels like to be broken.

I may not believe in Jesus,
But I believe in sacrifice.
Life doesn't always stand a reason,
And no one ever gets a chance to live it twice.

But I'd rather risk my fate,
Than to lose my faith,
In the lovin', the hatin',
The constant debatin',
The chaos, the calm.
Raise the alarm.

The living that die,
The constant deny,
The chaos, the calm.
Raise the alarm.

I may not believe in regrets,
But I believe in salvation.
Some things I'd rather forget.
We choose what we see,
And we see what we choose to believe.

In the name of the father,
The son, and the holy ghost.
I'm not concerned with religion,
After all it's what's inside that matters most.

But I'd rather risk my fate,
Than to lose my faith,
In the lovin', the hatin',
The constant debatin',
The chaos, the calm.
Raise the alarm.

Is this chicken thing true?

Yugh.

Nonetheless, they were never charged with these stunts, were they? Just the last thing.

I'm not saying they should get a reward. But 2 years in prison.. wtf? :wtf:

As far as I know the chicken thing and various other stunts have been proudly proclaimed by them including public displays of rather graphic sex acts. What I am saying is that they have a pattern of anti-social behavior that would not be tolerated in any sane culture. 2 years seems a little excessive to us maybe but Russia is an independant country and the punishment is hardly inhumane. So while I don't like Putin either and might even agree it seems a little excessive who the hell are we to judge another country especially with some of the outrageous punishments and wholesale prizon population we support?

Well our judicial system at least isn't that strict at all, I must say. Yes, other countries also have outrageous punishments and these should also not be tolerated.

I'm sure the porn industry has done some outrageous as well, or artists or musicians, like Damien Hirst or Marilyn Manson. I don't see them going to prison for doing an act.

Antisocial behavior is no reason to put someone in prison.

And this has made the news now, but I'm sure a lot of more injustice is happening in Russia. The regime is as corrupt as the borgia family. Putin's opposition is magically disappearing. ... Pussy Riot just made so much noise they were lucky to make the news. Otherwise the punishment might have been ever more severe.

Has anyone ever noticed that there are no songs with a connection to the current war in Iraq/Afghanistan? World War 2 had songs, the Vietnam war had songs, but i don't see Good Morning Afghanistan arriving anytime soon? Now why is that?

Maybe because.. The idea circulated during the Vietnam War that they lost the war because of public opinion and the media. Because the population lost the morale etc. Since then there's been a lot less media coverage of wars. And if the journalists are admitted in the war zones their writings are usually censored. I think the public just knows less about these wars.. And what they know isn't the human side of it. And there's less protest against them consequently.
And WW2 well, it was a global war with a clear enemy. It was present in everyone's lives. Iraq and Afghanistan not so much and the enemy is less clear.
