The clue is - it's called 'Classic Rock Forums'.

I like pretty much anything from the 70s and 80s. About the only exceptions are Slayer, Metallica, and Guns n roses. They are rather overrated. Prefer stuff Like David Bowie, Yes, and Black Sabbath.

Maybe Ive come to the wrong forum :/

You didn't come to the wrong forum at all. I'm not saying people will like everything you post but as far as the spectrum of music people like here with the groundwork starting with Classic Rock and on this is the most diverse forum I've seen personally. I mean in the same token and I could be wrong Dragonquest if I created a "What's the Best modern Pop Rock Band?" thread you may come into it with the same reaction some people in here did. If I were you I wouldn't get offended with the people who actually took the time to at least listen to your tracks even if their reviews weren't glowing. From personal experience I know it can be humbling but also from personal experience their are people who will like it. hell, there are members here of darker music that haven't even seen your thread I bet. Lou/Realm already through his hat in about SWANS which I actually like myself from what little I've heard (I own The Seer). I also listened to that Throbbing Gristle Magic just posted and it doesn't sound any worse than a lot of the 70's Jazz I've heard. Anyway, from experience don't let ANYONE tell you what you should post here musically because of the site name but do respect the opinions and post what you like and you'll get the satisfaction of finding at least a small niche here who has the same taste! Peace! :grinthumb

Big fan of Throbbing Gristle myself,I mean I should be since they laid the groundwork for the bands I added links to. My issue wasn't people coming in and saying they disliked the music but more so the stubborn nature of a couple of posts. Like I said all music is music IMO even the bad stuff. Personally I hate the term noise as a genre because it seems to suggest a lack of structure.

By the way that Throbbing Gristle cover is a famous suicide spot. Also that's their most accessible album.

Cool! I think you'll find the majority of listeners are stubborn in their own way and we just take it personally when it's our own genre. I love a good portion of Rap/Hip-Hop and I can logically defend it as music but it won't change a rigid mind of if I'm not enjoying the sounds/content it's not music. People will change definitions to their liking. If they don't like it not only is it not for them but it shouldn't be for anyone. If you bring up a point logically about it at least being a form of music they'll pass over it and just revert back to the reasons they don't like it again rather than discuss the musical aspects. It is what it is. Just preach your enthusiasm and hope you already have members of the choir. People with certain affinities for more eclectic, niche sounds are usually the ones who already have found or have a radar for finding that stuff.

Well I won't lie I'm pretty harsh towards music such as Kesha and Fall out boy. Still I know about everything you said it does seem to be a pattern that goes on. I just like bands to try something different or at least set them apart from other artists. That's why I prefer cult bands like Gentle Giant, Can, and Van der Graaf Generator over stuff like AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Guns n Roses.

Well one thing to keep in mind is that bands you don't like could be developing their sound into something different without you knowing. it takes their fanbase to hear it. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not a Fall Out Boy fanboy but I will listen to their material. They have an EP out as a bonus on their last album that is produced by folk genius Ryan Adams that is full of messy, raw short punk songs that I find pretty awesome. I know this because my friend like FOB a lot and we both really liked Ryan Adams. Plus the lead singer is a very good singer and had a solo release that showed he could do Soul and R&B if he so chose. I'm not trying to sell you to be a fan but just saying that while we are hating on a group probably because they were big and overexposed at a time when we wanted other bands to shine we miss out on the fact that even they are developing artist with more layers than you can see without looking into it. This likely applies to the brutal and harsh music you refer to where people don't want to look further into because of harsh vocals or unmelodic instrumentation. :)
