I don't mind really ......... I'm used to it. He's probably been indulging for 30 year and he's none the worse. He's not puffing away non-stop. It's like having a beer with his mates. It would be really scary if he was shooting up heroin.

Hendrix was never a pop rock player...he loved the blues.

Band Of Gypsies was the logical step towards what he wanted. I see your point, as most people know his Experience stuff the best,

A lot like Stevie Ray actually...Stevie started out with Hendrix stuff, but before he passed, he was getting deep into the blues and Jazz.

I am familiar w/ both just prefer Experience by far but thats just my personal opinion.
