Stanley Jordan might be the most talented I ever saw. Check him out on youtube if you've never heard of him. He gets more out of one guitar than anyone I have ever heard. Steve Vai is the most technical rock guitarist on the planet. No one can go toe to toe with him and come out alive. If I needed a guitarist to start a band today it would be Joe Satriani. The most melodic would have to be Neal Schon. His huge body of work speaks for itself. I love his instrumental stuff.
