This kind of lists are great but always come down to taste and opinion. I will give you reasons for my choices. Obviously this is all opinon in as welcome for debate.

in no particular order

Jimi Hendrix- the most inovative guitarist to date
Chuck Berry-godfather of rock guitar
Tom Morello-Nobody uses effects better.
Stevie Ray Vaughn- Pride and Joy, enough said
Eric Clapton- Lalya is one of the most classic riffs
Jimmy Page- Versatile is it gets
John Frusciante- the closest person i have heard to hendrix to date
Slash- Melodic Solos that make you wanna piss yourself
Dimebag Darrell- Best all around metal guitat player.
Adam Jones- controlls feedback with amazing ease. He is a music theorist wet dream. Has his own chord.
