The Moody Blues have announced the dates for their 2013 U.S. tour, which starts in late September and runs through the beginning of November. The veteran band will play nearly 30 dates during the two-month road trip.

The tour coincides with the release of a new career-spanning box set on the band, which will come out on June 25. The 17-disc ‘Timeless Flight‘ includes, among other things, 11 CDs, six DVDs and Moody Blues memorabilia. The CDs will feature remastered album tracks, previously unreleased alternate mixes, outtakes and live recordings. The DVDs will feature rarely seen TV appearances, promo videos and some previously unreleased concert footage.

The set also includes three DVD-Audio discs with 5.1 surround-sound mixes of the classic Moody Blues albums that the band released between 1967 through 1972: ‘Days of Future Passed,’ ‘On the Threshold of a Dream,’ ‘To Our Children’s Children’s Children,’ ‘A Question of Balance,’ ‘Every Good Boy Deserves Favour’ and ‘Seventh Sojourn.’

There will also be a four-disc version of the box for those of us who aren’t filthy rich. The band fan site Moody Blues Today has a breakdown of what’s included in each set.

Three months after the release, the band will launch its tour in Louisville and wrap up with a series of California shows in late October and early November. You can see the full itinerary below.

I've got all kinds of copies of Moodies albums, but have been collecting my favorites on vinyl the last year with good success.:)

Who is left in the band now? Last I heard it was Graeme Edge and company, unless Justin Hayward is still part of the band.:hm:

^^I'm not sure MP, I think that Graeme Edge toured as the Moodies when he was the only one of the original members left in the band years ago, unless my memory is shot.;)

I think 2 of the original members have passed away over the last couple years, so that would leave 3 of them left??

^^It might be all three for the upcoming tour, but when nobody else wanted to tour, Edge toured with guest musicians as the Moody Blues. I'm positive I read that somewhere a couple years ago.

The last time I saw them was way back in 2008 I think. Edge, Hayward and Lodge were present (as they had been every other time I ever saw them). I can't imagine the Moodies minus either Hayward or Lodge (yeah yeah I know about the original lineup). It simply would not be them at that point.

Like the last time I saw Skynard. I think the only one there was a second generation drummer. It sounded like it as well. Luckily we got in for free, then back out, then back in then out etc enjoying the Baltimore night life between songs. If I were a different kind of person I could have easily made off with a few of their guitars. Security on that show was nonexistent.

I'm probably being too literal, but Graeme Edge is technically the only original member left in the group.

The Moody Blues 1964-1966
Graeme Edge - drums, percussion, vocals
Denny Laine - guitar, vocals
Mike Pinder - keyboards, vocals
Ray Thomas - vocals, flute, percussion, harmonica
Clint Warwick - bass, vocals

That was like a whole other band from the guys that did Days of Future Passed etc. Yes, I know many of the members were there in both lineups but the sound is what I am talking about.

^^^ I know what you mean Khor. The Moodies without Justin and John aren't the Moodies. I certainly won't buy a ticket if they aren't part of the current touring band.
