Back in the late 70's, Neil Aspinall had put together a film of old clips and videos (at the Beatles suggestion). It was going to be released theatrically. It was the germ of what ultimately became the "Anthology" project. According to legal documents from John Lennon in '79, the Beatles were planning to reunite and play a couple of songs for the climax of the film. Sadly, for reasons we all know, it never came to pass.

The ONLY good thing to come out of two Beatles passing on is that we didn't have to suffer some lame reunion album mucking with their reputation. They would have brought in Jeff (f*cking) Lynn as producer and stacked it full of over produced MOR. Guaranteed. What Beatles member solo album after, say, 1980 can compete with any of their 60's output.

Part of the Beatles' mystique was that they made SUCH an impact in such a short period of time, and impact still felt today. Had they ever reunited, most likely it would have been a shell of it's former self.

The other thing you have to consider is that they didn't tour after 1965 (or thereabout) and part of wanting a reunion would be a tour. If they just got together and put out a few albums, it might have been magical, but that other part of reunions that people like most likely would have been missing.

^^I agree Lynch.

The Beatles had a Magical Interval during the evolution of rock music, the legacy they have left is unmatched and echoes to this day.

I am not sure about recording new material, but I would have loved to see them get together and do a One Of concert with all their best songs. Using the newer technology we would have a brilliant DVD to enjoy forever.

The Beatles couldn't do any wrong for me (apart from Lennon and Ono's Revolution No. 9, released under The Beatles name). The fantastic Abbey Road promised a glorious future, which was never realised, so I would've loved to see a reunion. I remember being excited and disappointed, in equal measure, by the media stories of a reformation in the early seventies. Band On the Run was the best album The Beatles never made, so I would take some consolation if Paul McCartney rejoined Denny Laine and maybe Richard Starkey.

I get a very distinct feeling that Richard Starkey doesn't get along with Paul or simply doesn't like him very much.

^^Could be right Snoopy...Paul was a stickler in the studio and blew up more than once if he thought Ringo wasn't up to speed. I can't remember what session but Ringo stormed out and the others painted a flower on his drum kit to smooth things over.

I have heard in interviews that Ringo and George went along with most things that Lennon & McCartney wanted. When the latter fell out, Ringo and George were caught between a rock and a hard place. I have also heard that Ringo was a catalyst in that, if the others fell out with each other, they all got on with him. Paul McCartney is probably difficult to work with and he has never (to my knowledge) explained why he fell out with Denny Laine.
