I know he was a big fan and I think you're right he did guest on an album. The whole evening was great with some incredible talent on show, all tipping their hats to Rory and Lonnie was like the iceing on the cake ... yeah good night that one EZ.

Dear old Rory looks like he's making a bit of a come back his profile has definitely risen in the last few years although hardcore Rory Gallagher fan's would probably say that he never went away so to speak.

I remember hearing when he died (June 1995) that was a very sad time indeed i remember going out the next morning the day after his death and buying the London Times & the Guardian newspapers to read his obituaries which i still have in a scrapbook.

A mate of mine told me on an early bus as I went into town before work, the whole day I moped about kind of shuffling on with things. It didn't really hit home though 'til I bought a newspaper. Yeah sad day that, we lost a legend.

There was some fine obituaries published in the british national newspapers following Rory's death my favourite being in the Guardian newspaper although the Chris Welch obituary (Chris Welch british rock journalist) wrote a fine obituary calling Rory THE PEOPLE'S GUITARIST.

I always liked the closing part of the Chris Welch obituary-

quote ... I always recall the end of those tumultuous gigs that he played for over 25 or more years when Rory with sweat matted hair had stopped playing and raising both arms to the audience would say breathlessly-

"I hope you enjoyed the music, see you again soon!!."
