Have only listened to I Don't Believe in Love ~and~ Empire so far.
IDBIL isn't a bad remake. It really doesn't bring anything new/fresh/exciting to the table, but it doesn't ruin the song either.
On the other hand, Empire is really flat and I mean that on multiple levels. 1) Tates vocals are flat in spots, by that I mean off-key, or at least they sound off key or a half-step off in places. It sounds like he should be able to hit the same notes, and does in places, but other places, it sounds almost lazy, both in production and vocal quality. 2) the guitar work on the solo is also flat... flat sounding (unexciting) and off key flat as well. WTF?
Neither of these songs impressed me, but at least the first one was decent enough that I could listen to it again. I doubt I'll ever listen to that version of Empire ever again in my life.
Will give the other two tracks a listen in a while. Not sure I could take all 4 directly in a row.
