I can't find anywhere to pick it up. If I REALLY wanted it I will have to order it

lol At the one stomping the CD. Serves you right for buying mediocrity.

I just saw that Tate's QR album has re-recorded versions of:

I Don't Believe In Love

Empire

Jet City Woman

Silent Lucidity

Has anyone heard these and have an opinion of them compared to the originals.

Edit: Nevermind, I found them all (linked in above)

None of those come close to the quality of the original songs in my opinion.

Have only listened to I Don't Believe in Love ~and~ Empire so far.

IDBIL isn't a bad remake. It really doesn't bring anything new/fresh/exciting to the table, but it doesn't ruin the song either.

On the other hand, Empire is really flat and I mean that on multiple levels. 1) Tates vocals are flat in spots, by that I mean off-key, or at least they sound off key or a half-step off in places. It sounds like he should be able to hit the same notes, and does in places, but other places, it sounds almost lazy, both in production and vocal quality. 2) the guitar work on the solo is also flat... flat sounding (unexciting) and off key flat as well. WTF?

Neither of these songs impressed me, but at least the first one was decent enough that I could listen to it again. I doubt I'll ever listen to that version of Empire ever again in my life.

Will give the other two tracks a listen in a while. Not sure I could take all 4 directly in a row.

:yuk:

He should have left those alone...why do bands and artists think their "new versions" are going be cooler or better. Just do new stuff.

Agreed, I didn't see the purpose to it other than butchering 4 classic songs.

Silent Lucidity and Empire are 2 of my favorites and I put the original Silent Lucidity and the remake side by side......listened very carefully......and I dont see an overwhelming difference but there are differences.

In the original Silent Lucidity...Geoff seems to be using a more husky whisper whereas the remake is a bit crisper vocally.........and the music is crisper, resonating and noticably louder than the original.

The Empire remake, the first thing that jumped out at me was several areas where the song seemed off-key. I also found the music to be noticably louder than the original.

I am like Rattlesnake......they sound like they could be demo's.
