Queensryche Singer Geoff Tate Reacts to Hostile Fan Reviews of New Album

:uc:

SOURCE LINK

Well, you can’t say Queensryche singer Geoff Tate isn’t a good sport.

Indeed  Had me chuckling :heheh:

I just saw that Tate's QR album has re-recorded versions of:

I Don't Believe In Love

Empire

Jet City Woman

Silent Lucidity

Has anyone heard these and have an opinion of them compared to the originals.

Edit: Nevermind, I found them all (linked in above)

Bearing in mind I am listening to these through rose coloured spectacles (is that possible? - well I hope you know what I mean) as I have had a couple of drams... I Don't Believe In Love is let down by the vocals imho - I have always loved Geoff's voice but it isn't what it used to be and it shows so much on this re-recording, and why has the chorus been dumbed down? Jet City Woman is not much better, with the verses just plodding along - where's the gusto of the original???
Oh dear, I didn't think Silent Lucidity could get any worse - not a fan of the original and I only managed just over a minute and a half of this version.
However, I really didn't mind Empire, not as good as the original but then re-makes rarely are, but I enjoyed hearing this :grinthumb

Having gone back and re-listened to the remake of I Don't Believe In Love and I'm much more disappointed today than I was yesterday. The music is OK, the solo is fine, Geoff's singing is ok, not great but not horrible either... but the background singing on the chorus is HORRIBLE.

Jet City Woman is OK-at-best. Not a complete disappointment, but certainly not memorable. Again, I have the say the background vocals (specifically on the chorus) detract from whatever Geoff was trying to do here.

My thoughts exactly & probably my biggest gripe about the re-recording of those two songs.

After reading all this the one thing that jumped out at me was Tate's admission they rushed production of this album instead of taking the time to get it right.

Considering he's the one calling the shots this is an embarrassment to Tate and Queensryche.

I don't think the other "Queensryche Mk II" will have any trouble putting out a better album than this.

Tate should be ashamed of himself.
