At 30000 Ft is the only song I can say is decent on otherwise a very boring pile of crap American Soldier album.

How many times have you listened to American Soldier Riff?

I don't think it's that bad actually, and kudos to Geoff Tate for trying to pay homage to American soldiers serving in horrendous conditions.

I played it about 4 times and it grew on me.

Certainly far better than their absolutely worst effort Dedicated to Chaos...even though I am patient I could barely make it through one listen to that steaming pile...and haven't got the stomach to give it another go either.:nw:

My 3rd listen through and apart from a couple of songs I just didn't enjoy what I listened to. I do agree it is better then Dedicated but lets face it, it doesn't take much to top that album. :heheh:
I dunno, I just couldn't get into it, I haven't heard Mindcrime II yet so I can't judge that album as such.

^^Most people panned Mindcrime II...but I enjoyed it. Sure DeGarmo is missed, but all in all they did a very respectable job finished off the story and even used the same studio/recording equipment to make sure they sound right if you play them back to back.

Nothing will surpass the original, but II is a good record.(Puts me in the minority but I don't mind.;))

Ill definitely give it a shot, I believe in just judging an album on its merit, comparing it to the predecessor often can do an album injustice if it is decent. A bit of a weird way to look at things.

Picked up The Warning and am listening to it now. I think this is fighting with Rage for Order for my favourite album.

The Warning was a great album, so is Rage. They had a streak of 4 albums that, in my honest opinion, were freakin' incredible. 5 if you include the S/T debut EP.

That EP I need to find. I like the remastered albums that come with bonus tracks too.

Yeah, I have the remastered EP (had the original on vinyl ages ago). It's really good. I do have to say though, the live tracks don't really sound live, other than in bits and pieces and due to the crowd noise. But I saw QR in concert a couple of times, and I have no doubt in my mind that Take Hold of the Flame (live in Tokyo) that is on the remastered EP is nothing more than the studio recording with live crowd noise in the background. It is TOO perfect to possibly be live.

As far as live stuff goes I really must get the Livecrime DVD if I can find that. Getting really into live stuff of bands lately. Was admittedly more of a studio fan but things change eventually. :heheh:

^^^ I have the Livecrime DVD and all I can say is that if you have 5.1 option on your system...leave it off....:heheh: TOOOO much bass....TOOOO MUCH BASS.

So I gave Dedictaed To Chaos another listen this week and it still seems too long IMO. Maybe this could have at least grew on people more had it been cut by like 5 tunes.

This is an album that takes alot of thime to grow on a Queensryche fan. But for a ballad, this one is not too bad to me anymore.
