Well I have Rage for Order now, I actually favour this one over Operation Mindcrime, just me though.
My favourite is The Whisper.

Chemical Youth is another.

Re: Queensryche

^^Chris DeGarmo left after 1997's release "Hear in the New Frontier". There were numerous stories about him forming another band but as far as I know he retired from music and is now an airplane pilot.(He did make an unofficial appearance on 2003's "Tribe" but didn't stick around.)
Very cool thread! I haven't finished reading all of it yet and might have a few more thoughts of my own to add about Queensryche but I wanted to pipe in with the answer to the above question since I did a search on this forum and didn't see this mentioned:

In 2001 Chris formed a band with Sean Kinney, Mike Inez and Vin Dombroski called Spys 4 Darwin. They put out an EP called microfish with the intention of following up with a full album but that didn't happen. The album did not have wide distribution and is somewhat hard to find unless you want to pay $$ for a used copy. The music as I think one would expect with the above lineup is ... I don't want to say grunge; let's call it more of a northwest alternative vibe. Initially I didn't instantly warm up to microfish but upon listening to it again tonight I might explore it some more.

It sounds like the song in this You Tube is Dashboard Jesus ...

Currently Chris is still a charter jet pilot, apparently quite happy with that career and doesn't look like he will return to music on a professional level any time soon (which in a way is too bad if you're a fan). He occasionally emerges for the odd guest appearance and interview.

I first heard Queensryche's demo on the radio I think it was 1981 or thereabouts. Of course the vocals stood out but also one of the tracks they played (Queen of the Ryche) had almost the exact same rythm that a local band (Fountainhead) had already recorded for a song called Masquerade. We all used to rib the guitar player Brent Boswell about this saying he should seek money for plagerism etc. Of course this was a coincedence and we knew it but it was good fun and the ep was really cool.
This was in the days when heavy metal was a rare thing to hear on the radio and they actually played that song and The Lady Wore Black quite a bit and even in prime time.

I later saw them on The Warning tour when they played a small bar called The Sandbar in Pasedena, Md. I was really happy at the professionalism they showed when the sound went out on the acoustic guitar and the guitar players still kept going instead of stopping and complaining. I got a newspaper type 'programe' from this show signed by someone in the band that is unlike any programe I've ever seen before.

I wasn't surprised to see them become very famous. I saw them once or twice at Hammerjacks then in 1989 or 90 supporting Metallica. This show was memorable because I had to sneak in and since I didn't know my way around The Capitol Center I came very close to getting caught.

My favorite stuff from them is the ep and some of Warning but they have always followed their own muse and I have to respect that.

I've been exploring/researching Promised Land, Hear In The Now Frontier and Tribe ... considering typing up some reviews/reports on those three ... but inevitably I keep getting sidetracked by the "old stuff" ... can you blame me? :D

I think most of the videos have been posted already but oh well what the hey ... this is probably my favorite from the Video: Mindcrime VHS tape that I have:

Breaking The Silence

First alternate version of Another Rainy Night (seen on Building Empires VHS tape)

A few songs from Hear In The Now Frontier ... I guess by Queensryche standards it might have been considered a disappointment but in a vacuum I like it reasonably well and find it worth exploring. Here's a live performance of the lead track, Sign Of The Times. (Yup, that's New Mexico all right :heheh:)

spOOL ... interesting tune

All I Want - Chris DeGarmo is handling the lead vocals on this one.

Two Miles High - Interesting little ditty from the Promised Land CD ROM (video game)

At 30000 Ft is the only song I can say is decent on otherwise a very boring pile of crap American Soldier album.
