Re: The Official Paul McCartney Thread

On July 9, 1972

Paul McCartney and Wings played their very first show in the small French town of Chateauvillon. The band included Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell, Henry McCullough and Paul's wife, Linda. It was McCartney's first time on the road since the Beatles quit touring in 1966. The band traveled on a double Decker London bus with a psychedelic interior.

Next up is Venus & Mars...which is another MUST HAVE for any Paul collection! This is the first time we'd see the most famous lineup of them all with Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English joining Paul, Linda & Denny!!

The band was really branching out as well with even lead vocals coming from Jimmy on a great track entitled Medicine Jar!!

After Band On The Run there was no stopping WINGS and the next two albums after this masterpiece would be some of the most famous recordings in the Macca discography!!!!

Band On The Run is my fave. I like the songs I've heard of Venus And Mars but oddly its the only 70's album besides Wild Life I haven't invested time into.

With the most famous WINGS line up in place! The next album was another biggie for the band!!

Speed Of Sound...took them to the toppermost of the poppermost with Silly Love Songs.

Drummer Joe English even sang a song on this fine album :grinthumb

My favorite track off that album isn't even a Paul song, but Wino Junko.
