I don't know if anybody posted about it yet but I heard today that Neil Young has released an unreleased album recorded in 1976 Now that has my attention. Anybody hear this yet? Actually I just checked the track list and all these tracks have been released on other albums. These are acoustic alternate recordings. http://time.com/4887201/neil-young-hitchhiker-lost-album/ https://www.amazon.com/b?node=17284579011
I've ordered the album at my local record store, but the album didn't show up today. I hope that I'll get it at the beginning of next week.
I have been listening to the album earlier today, and I can only say that it' mums* for the ears. It's heavenly and in the best 70s style!! Wondering why the heck uncle Neil have waited soooo long with this release? 8.5 stars out of 10 to this album from me! *Mums is a word for something that is good for eyes, ears and mouth.
Maybe kick start this thread: Notwithstanding 'After the Goldrush' and 'Harvest' (the first NY album i got into), Tonight's the Night and the track 'Broken Arrow', 'Freedom' (/Eldorado), for me, is one of his best - maybe more cohesive than some of his albums and kind of sounds like he was focussed. Difficult to keep up with Neil - Long May He Run.... - pity some other artists of his calibre appear to have given up 'the fight'.
What can you say about Neil Young. An unsung genius. His music just keeps giving, unlike say Bob Dylan who imo hasn't had a great album in the last couple of decades. Defiant, funny and versatile, he refuses to let his age or circumstances stop him putting out quality music that is unique. From folk to rock to grunge to wildly experimental, he manages to escape being labelled or pigeon holed.
