Re: The Official Neil Young Thread

That is quite an impressive list of recordings GM. I respect Neil a lot, he has been prolific and socially conscious as well over his illustrious career.

You have posted my two favorite albums, "Harvest" and "After The Gold Rush".

Here's a song I recognize instantly, and so do many other fans, from Harvest.

hell yeah, we needed a Shakey thread

words cant describe how much i love Neil, he's a true and honest musician. he does whatever the **** he wants and its never to sell out. and his lyrics, oh god. they're beyond personal. when you listen to his songs and the heartbreaking experiences of his life are being described, it just gets you in a sad mood. he's my favorite everything, artist, guitarist, singer, lyricist, he's a great man

more shall be contributed later

Did anyone besides me and my best friend Bill Lovin see the movie of "Journey Through the Past?"

Re: The Official Neil Young Thread

Yeah, Neil made a movie to go along with the album. It was pretty weird - very stream-of-consciousness sort of thing, with no plot. The one scene I remember (after all, this was over 30 years ago) was a shot of Neil standing on a river bank, with a big, newly constructed barge on a ramp on the opposite shore. Neil says to the camera, "We're here in <whatever the name of the town was> to watch this big boat come sliding down into the river...hopefully make a big splash for the show." He turns to look at the barge, and as it begins its descent of the launch ramp he grins and says, "Oh, there it goes..."

My friend and I just looked at each other, and at the same time we each licked the ends of our index fingers, put them to our foreheads and made a sizzling sound.

Neil is the man, period.

Journey Through the Past is bloody weird. I think it was a good idea but it wasn't pulled together too well.

Neil Young is a legend, I love his work, all of it, I see they have started to remaster his early work now which is good if not expensive for some of us!!!
