Some of my favourite Jim vocals. To me, he was always brilliant. He really lived the artists life and believed everything he wrote with his whole being. His authenticity shines through in his music imo.

Maybe the best singer in rock. I'm not very focused on lyrics (but stupidly bought that big expensive book and haven't looked at it once), but how they are sung -- melody, vibrato, phrasing, inflections, and I thought Jim was great at that. The timing. The Doors were THE band to get me into the music I like decades later (thanks to the guy in Science class in middle school who is now a millionaire)

1967-1971 - such a short time, but leaving us so much great stuff. I also found Jim Morrison to be one of the funniest guys. There's some parts in concerts that got me to laugh out loud. Studio banter, etc.

I wonder if Jim Morrison ever hung out in the Bay area at one of those Beat Nik clubs where they read poetry..

I read that when he lived in the SF area of the 1950s that he hung out at City Lights Bookstore and The Hungry i. Mort Sahl was the stand-up comedian there while Jim lived in Alameda, and it's very possible he was influenced by Mort. They had a very similar level of intelligence, knowing what was really going on.

In the book, "Friends Gathered Together" a friend of his said he had more comedy albums than music ones.

Interviewed by a really good interviewer. Enjoy!
