Between my left and right speakers...
Number Six...

^There was a Rolling Stone Poll a year ago of influential guitarists and Cobain placed sixth. I thought that was an interesting placement [then no malice intended], said so and boy, did I get a reaction. :D

^^I'm not surprised he's got a legion of dedicated fans who would vote for him in any poll.

Of course he would not place in my top 50, if I could ever make a list of that many guitarists.

Somehow that sounds about like a RS poll. But then I am not impressed with the current state of Rolling Stone Magazine, either. (save this for another discussion)

What I would like to know, Who/What did Cobain influence? He did nothing new as far as technique and style.

Guess I just don't get it :wtf:

There are new genres in rock I am not at all familiar with but used to work with a kid that was into emo, screamo, etc etc. Maybe these. Dunno. Practically every development following 'grunge' has been all downhill as far as I'm concerned.

seems this thread in less about Nirvana and more about musical taste or philosophical differences

That was the point, my friend.

I don't mind if Nirvana is overrated: if I like them, I will listen them; if I don't like them, I won't. And it doesn't mater the opinión of the rest of the world.

But I wanted to open a healthy discussion, trusting here we all are adults (and we've proven it, I think), to feed myself with your opinions about this topic -not just regarding Nirvana.

Nirvana was a decent band I think. Not crazy about them but don't dislike them either. If I had to rate the band, I would probably give them a 7 out of 10.

Out of the 2 albums I've heard, Nevermind is the favourite... although In Utero comes very close. Still haven't listened to Bleach or anything else aside from songs here and there. I've heard more of Foo Fighters output than Nirvana's.

I really don't care if they're overrated or whatever. lol.
