I agree. When he said that, I saw it live, and I felt shocked. I literally said, "Did he just say that?" You're right, it felt much worse coming from a person like him who should know better. I'm glad he apologised, but it still makes me feel sad. :uh:

Yeah, but the apologies are forced and never sincere. Henry Rollins apologized too but what's the point. I don't adhere to celebrity apologies. I adhere to seeing that they never do the same thing again.

It may be forced, but since they did it publicly, maybe it will make them think twice the next time. :bonk:

Hopefully! :)

It would be nice, but it seems that people are becoming much more rude and disrespectful, and media gives them a forum. I just hope that Robin's kids can get by the crude remarks and remember their dad in a good way.

Then there's actors like Todd Bridges who are using this as a way to try to get back on Hollywood's radar.

To take the heat off Simmons exclusively it's not like he's the only one who made ill timed or inappropriate remarks in the wake of Robin William's suicide. I think Henry Rollin's words were worse actually and I don't care if he apologized. The fact that apologies are made after backlash are worse imo. It's not like you never meant what you said.

Here's the link to Henry Rollins essay about the subject matter:

Henry Rollins slams Robin Williams for committing suicide
Suicide is supreme selfishness and utterly moronic. I have zero sympathy for people who go down that road and applaud anyone brave enough to call attention to this. When you commit suicide you essentially say 'to hell with life'.

If that's how you feel to hell with you.

You know, I've been pondering this whole 'genius businessman' tag.

Does Gene have any successful businesses outside of the KISS brand name?

I mean, does he have anything with any amount of success?

I'm not comparing his 'outside' success to the KISS merchandise cash cow, because there won't ever be anything he could do to top that.

I don't know for sure, but he may have a record label or something.

Anyhow, riding the crest of the glut merchandise hardly makes him a genius, business or otherwise.

Was the merch idea a stroke of genius? Maybe. It could just as easily be the most profitable lucky guess of all time.

Even so, what has he done since that makes him a genius businessman?

I think Gene is more a media whore than business genius.
He was also very good at spotting up and coming talent and promoting them either by allowing them to tour with Kiss or putting them in touch with folks who could help them. Say what you want about him but once upon a time he had a good ear.

I just want to address one thing and it relates to the hypocrisy in these type of statements. Henry used the example of once you have kids you void the right to suicide. I get the fact that kids are hurt by it but here's where I draw the line. These celebs care for the families so much but where's the true sympathy when the families get hurt by these public statements basically calling there father a piece of shit. Maybe these families don't want their loved ones name soiled. It's bad enough they lost somebody they love. Anyway, like I said, the arrogance from Rollins outdoes what Simmons said by far imo so maybe the heat can transfer to someone else now or celebs can stop using their status to proclaim judgement on the fallen.
Yep. I hate the simple lack of heart some people have. It disgusts me. People who make light of it disgust me. Rollins pretty much does take the cake here for bigger assclown.

Suicide is supreme selfishness and utterly moronic. I have zero sympathy for people who go down that road and applaud anyone brave enough to call attention to this. When you commit suicide you essentially say 'to hell with life'.

I can understand why you and some may feel this way but I personally disagree about it being selfish and cowardly.

Wait, so is this:

"Drug addicts and alcoholics are always, 'the world is a harsh place.' My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany, I don't want to hear f--k all about 'the world is a harsh place,'" Simmons told the music site Songsfact.com. ""And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, 'I'm depressed, I live in Seattle,' f--k you, then kill yourself."

Though the interview had initially been published two weeks before Williams' suicide, it went viral after the tragedy drew a spotlight on depression.

what you are talking about when you accuse Simmons of being an ass?

Something he said weeks before Williams bowed out?
