In Utero vs. Dirt

Believe it or not, I'm with the majority. As a band I like these two evenly and see many similarities personally and musically. But as a band, I liked Nirvana's live recordings better than their studio whether it be full out raw and heavy or stripped down. Honestly, In Utero is a very underwhelming album IMO. I know a Nirvana purist would prefer it to Nevermind because it was more raw, more punk, more true to what Kurt wanted (like we know )! I don't care! I'll take a Nirvana that tried to make an aesthetically pleasing album like Nevermind with some pop sensibilities, good hooks, etc. over bat shit crazy wailing anyday. Anyway, Dirt is almost a best of Alice In Chains excluding Nutshell which is my favorite song by them!

But the songs are legendary:

Rooster

It is AIC's best album besides AIC Unplugged which rivals Nirvana's Unplugged IMO!

In Utero. I love Dirt, but In Utero edges it out. Pissed off my Albini Mix (which was supposed to be the original mix) got tossed out by my ex girlfiend. Thing was hard to find.
