I agree. It seems that many people always have money for smokes and booze, but are strapped for anything else.

Well, it's not that weird. We have to pay for music when in fact they play music on the radio for free. It's not like they deliver beer for free
Downloading music is bad if you make money out of it yourself. When it's recreational or in my case I cannot buy it anywhere else because it's an unknown band overhere, I think it justifies it a little

I recorded FM radio onto cassette tape, especially featured programs or the new album of the week. I never felt bad about that. Radio was free.

Groovy as hell.
I support free downloading as long as it's recreational. When it comes to buisness, it's a crime. Thanks to internet and downloading I found many great bands and got chance to listen to rare stuff. If I really like some band or album, I'll support them by buying vinyl because I just love to have "original" stuff from bands I love, and you just can't download that big sleeve and that smell of old vinyl. Mmmm tasty ^^

I see we have pretty much surrounded this one. I have done the same thing as Shadow, without any guilt whatsoever. In fact as I have said before the cassette decks improved drastically in a short period of time, including that little "MPX" filter switch to eliminate the 1 khz carrier wave that many FM stations used, so our tapes sounded better. And again I have never heard One complaint from any of the media corporations about getting a levy on every blank tape/CD-R sold, they get paid for every sale no matter what we want to record on the discs etc. Talk about a double standard.
(And I was always irritated that I could buy Blank Cassette Tapes that were far better quality than the ones the record companies were selling their albums on,,,I could not figure that one out.
So if you took a vinyl disc in great condition, with a nice cartidge/stylus you could make a far better Copy than the mass produced cassettes the damn companies were offering, almost daring you to do so.)
