^^My that was extra blunt even for you my esteemed music addict...:oyea:

I have posted my main villain in here already, while I agree with a lot of your points when it comes to murder and destroying irreplaceable things and preaching a return to pagan worship...at that point I am going to hold a grudge that will affect anything the perpetrator does.

Fortunately I don't like Black metal anyway...so it makes this one easy but I had to use him as an example.

Fortunately none of my musicians have murdered anyone and half of them who were accused were never proven guilty of their crimes anyway outside the public scrutiny! :grinthumb

For me, it's the opposite on most occasions. Most people(including rock "stars") have trials and tribulations sometime(s) in thier life and for the most part come through it and have attained quality attributes such as humility, taking responsibility for thier actions, compassion, gratitude, etc., for the mistakes they have made.

I have a hard time listening, let alone respecting an artist who is dogmatic, vain, absolute, and self-exalted. In some cases as I see a musician taking on these characteristics I have developed a disdain for them personally and to some degree thier music as well. That hasn't been the case for most of the artists I have/had listened to. Knock on wood.

From most sources, John Lennon was a first-grade arsehole, at least until he began his peace crusade (and some say even then).

I still love the Beatles music, and John's solo music.

I also don't really agree with the drug-fuelled lifestyle lived by the Rolling Stones. But I love their stuff too.

It's all to do with the music. If they play good, I'll listen. If they don't, they could be Mother Teresa and I still couldn't give a damn.

By following that logic Id not be the Metallica fan I am.
I love the music, heck Hetfield is my favourite band member even though he was a **** to Newsted lol.
Just shows not to let in band disputes etc affect your view on the music.

When I was still doing radio, Dave "Snake" Sabo of Skid Row stiffed me on a phone-in interview we had lined up. Didn't call in when he was supposed to, never heard from him at all. Meanwhile I was on the air for 2 full hours before that promoting the hell out of this interview and their album. Not to mention the 2-3 weeks of promotion I did on other programs leading up to this broadcast. Made me look like a real a55hole on the air.

That's the only time I've ever let this sort of thing get in the way of enjoying an artist. However, I did eventually start playing their music again over the radio.

Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot also stiffed me on an interview but at least it wasn't an on-air interview, this was going to be a print interview, so I didn't spend any amount of time promoting it.

That's not the end of it.

I once did a phoner with Eddie Money over the air and he was calling from a cellphone. The call dropped about 25 minutes in and we never got him back.

He also called me the wrong name (Steve) a couple of times, but that isn't anything to lose sleep over. His management told me that Eddie had done something like 45-50 interviews in a row that week promoting his new covers album.

Besides, he was very engaged the whole time and gave me some great answers to the questions I had. So at least he was into it.

There were times I was just happy the artist called in on time and the interview went smooth.

It was, and he called me by the right name twice during those 25 minutes, so things evened out. Good interview, probably one of my best other than Leo Lyons from Ten Years After.

Hmm, I think it is the opposite for me. I really am geek when it comes to rock and roll music. If I love some band or artist I have to learn everything about them - read every book I can get my hands on, find out some trivial things about songs and touring and stuff like that. However, when I read "John" by Cynthia Lennon and find out that my biggest idol was ignoring his first son for almost a whole time when he was with Yoko and in the other hand he was fighting for peace like no one else - that didn't make me think that he's double-tounged bastard, I had even more understanding for his songs. He had hard time with FBI wanted to kick him out of USA, media pressing and on top of that - Yoko manipulated him, but however - my point is, when I find out my idol's deepest secret, that doesn't effect me that I stop listening to them, I update my opinion about them as persons.
