Actually double all of the guitar parts over like that was Axl Rose's decision and he did so not to cover anything up but to add thickness to the songs. He's done the same thing on every Guns album (other than "The Spaghetti Incident?"), including "Chinese Democracy".

No, Axl didn't technically mix or produce "Appetite" like he would on all later Guns N' Roses releases but it's been verified by several people that doubling the guitar parts was his idea. He said in a more recent interview with (I think) Del James that he's always preferred having a wall of guitars type of sound.

Appetite and Use Your Illusion ( the only real Guns n Roses albums) produced such awesome tunes.

I'd take any Guns N' Roses album credits with a grain of salt, since regardless of what you might read, Izzy Stradlin (and Axl) did the majority of their writing up until Stradlin left, no matter how much credit McKagan, Slash or Adler/Sorum might try to take.

Both Izzy and Axl have said as such. Obviously Slash won't admit to this, because he wants to remain viable as a solo performer.

24 years ago today, The highest selling debut album off all time was released and it set the bar very very high for all hard rock albums since.​
