When you survive all that Jack went through but still have addictions that could affect your performance or even kill you then I understand why the band found a replacement singer and carried on.
This is the Pink Floyd vs Waters argument all over again, if Jack is all fired up to tour then simply use his own name, his old fans will know him and expect some classic songs from his old band that is a given. To me he is the one who is out of line here, his band mates have expressed why things have got to this point very articulately and always return to his state of health and prone to lapses that hurt the band. If you are a solo artist then your actions can only hurt your own career not the entire band like was mentioned.
I hope he does kick all his vices, but seriously you get so many warnings before you end up that close to dying it makes me wonder if he will ever be able to resist temptation.
