I have been a big Depeche Mode fan since hearing Personal Jesus very early in the 80's, however, when I heard Strangelove in '88, I was converted, fully! That is, as per my opinion ( :D ) their greatest song.

I do like their 80s stuff but personally I'm more a fan of their 90s material. Violator, Songs Of Faith And Devotion and Ultra are my fav albums.

So... one of my favourite bands, though actually not a rock one. They started in a somewhat Pink Floyd way - quite successful debut album, followed by departure of then-leader Vince Clark. I personally don't like this one, songs here are kinda childlish and irritating. Among 80s' albums, I prefer these led by Martin Gore, all of them, starting from Construction Time Again, with the peak at Black Celebration. Dark, atmospheric, absolutely brilliant album.

The best, what Depeche Mode gave us, are the 90s. That's when they took guitars, mixed synthpop with rock and provided themselves world-superstar status. All three albums from the decade (Violator, Song Of Faith And Devotion, Ultra) are masterpieces, especially the middle one, based mostly on "regular" instruments.

The 21st century's albums are mostly unsung, at least in Poland, where I live. I believe, there's not much to run down here. These are still good, quite experimental, non-schematic records.

Any DM fans here? :)

Their 3rd album since 2009, Memento Mori, will drop in March.

First single/video from that album dropped 4 days ago. These guys have lost nothing.

Depeche Mode - Ghosts Again

They started work on this in 2019, so I wonder if any of Andy Fletcher's keyboard work made it on the album. Would be a nice end note for him if it did.

A couple more official videos have dropped since February, including one last week.

Depeche Mode - Wagging Tongue

Depeche Mode - My Favourite Stranger

The Vinegar Hill Sessions versions are great as well.

This is a band that I came to the party late with. Some of their lyrical themes are quite interesting imo. I have a few of their albums but mainly listen to their greatest hits compilation. Interesting that they have a new album out.

I listened to an episode of Smartless a few weeks ago which features vocalist Dave Gahan and lyricist guitarist Martin Gore. It’s worth hearing.
Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion are just fantastic albums on my opinion but honestly those two are the only DM albums I really enjoy. I also have Some Great Reward but by comparison, I rarely listen to it.

Been listening to their music quite a lot lately and really appreciate their lyrics. This band's definitely an acquired taste though.
This song is so relevant in today's world.
