Hey guys,
This song is sang by a band who's language is not English, they're singing in English however not amazingly, I usually search by lyric snippets in quotation marks, but have had no such luck here mainly because I can't get any coherent lines of lyrics - it's definitely a cover of probably a relatively famous American song - I have no idea where else I might post such a thing, for smarter people to help identify...
The recording is from 1975-77 from a rehearsal, some key lyrics seem to be repeated quite a bit, others not so much. This isn't a snippet or anything, it's a full on 6 minute track...
Most likely something about a "black woman", or maybe "like a woman". Some parts definitely sound like "I'm very sorry, black woman", which honestly doesn't sound right, and doesn't make much sense.
I have the whole rehearsal tape, and most of the songs are covers and re-arrangements of existing songs, so I don't expect it to be an original song, doubly so because it's not in the language of the singers.
Most likely it's a song where they butchered the lyrics or made up their own due to mishearing - I also find it hard to believe they could have invented the 2+ minutes of instrumental work leading into the lyrics, it just seems very creative, for a decent but amateurish band.
I would honestly take: 1) attempts at identifying the song, 2) ideas about which band might have played the original, 3) ideas about where else I can post this to try and get some help.
If anyone can help I'd much appreciate it - I've gotten good at identifying songs over the years but this one has stumped me. I am not ruling out that it's an original composition it's just very unlikely...
