Robin Scott Official Website

M was an English musician, who's real name is Robin Scott. He had some brief success in the late 70's early 80's with his funky style of new wave & synthpop.

Actually M was a one hit wonder in the USA! His hit song "Pop Muzik" hit #1 on the Billboard charts in 1979.

Albums

1979 New York • London • Paris • Munich
1980 The Official Secrets Act
1981 Famous Last Words
1984 Jive Shikisha!

I heard his song the other day, which brought back so many memories of how we use to sing this catchy song in such a fun and mocking way.

"New York, London, Paris, Munich, Everybody's talkin' 'bout Pop Music."

I remember this group! It was one of the first MTV videos aired after the launch of the channel.

The highly catchy "Pop musik" by M was a Massive hit not just in the States but around the world. It reached no2 here in the UK . As you say Magic" M" turned out to be a bit of a one hit wonder and soon disappeared without trace.
The 1st time I heard "M" was their Ist single which had airplay on John Peels radio show in 1978. M were on a indie record label then [ do it records ] The track is "Moderne man "......still sounds brilliant now :grinthumb

Does sound excellent, Lou.

I am doing some digging into his catalogue to see what else I can shake up.

Reminds me so much of Devo, who I also consider to be brilliant and fun.

I agree Magic...M did have a DEVO feel to those early singles. As does "Safety dance" by MEN WITHOUT HATS IMO

I was still heavily listening to top 40 AM radio in 1979, and do not remember this song.

Which is weird, I normally remember (even a little) songs I haven't heard in over 30 years if they were all over the radio back then.
