Correction: Eric Clapton was a founding member of the Yardbirds. Jeff Beck replaced Eric. Jimmy Page came on for the end of the band

Here's an unusual bunch. The first two are by the same artists.

Simon and Garfunkel broke up and went their separate ways after their original version, and their first album, totally bombed. But then, after some limited airplay on college stations, it started to attract attention. Their producer, Tom Wilson, added the extra instruments of the second version to jump on the "folk/rock" bandwagon without Simon or Garfunkel's knowledge. That "cover" version became a hit, and got there career as a duo going.

This last one is a modern take on the song, with huge amounts of vocal grit and emotion.

Never cared for the Baez version. I think that the Zeppelin version sounds more like it was based off of the Association remake from the mid 60's than the original.

Also, I've heard the Miley Cyrus version before and she does a hell of a decent job on it, for a goofy little poptart. Thing is, I've said for a number of years that she's got talent, more so than the likes of Britney, and she has dump trucks full of talent over the likes of a hack like Beyonce. Her problem is that she's partially off her rocker and like so many from her generation, they feel the need to say and do stupid shit to get attention. If she had just stuck with singing and nothing else, she could be a LOT bigger than she ever was/is

Her recordings on "The Backyard Sessions" are all excellent.

And her acting isn't bad. When she guest starred on Two and a Half Men as Jake's girlfriend, she was really funny. She had a great sense of comic timing.

The Montrose arrangement of Connection is completely different to that of the Rolling Stones. It is one of Sammy Hagar's best performances and Ronnie's solo is great as always. Paper Money is an underrated album:

Tori Amos version of Slayer's "Raining Blood" is chilling, haunting, dark and evil.
