Re: Black Sabbath (Official)

I like to play "guess the Band" with the kids when they are over (I play a song and ask them to guess who it is), and all the kids know Sabbath, especially the Ozzy years.

Re: Black Sabbath (Official)

Black Sabbath is my favorite band and as much as I love the Ozzy years
I'm not one to say Sabbath ends with his departure. Dio fronted Sabbath is some of my favorite music ever. Ian Gillan and Born Again is another awesome
effort and even the Glenn Hughes fronted Seventh Star is great IMO, though it is more like a Iommi project then Black Sabbath .Tony had wanted to release it under his own named but was over ruled by the record company.

And last but not least Tony Martin era Sabbath has also produced some awesome albums even if they are not what the Ozzy era freaks might consider
as "sounding like Sabbath" ought to sound. Headless Cross and Tyr are great albums as is Cross Purposes and The Eternal Idol IMO.

Ozzy era is my favorite w/ Dio running a VERY close second but anyone discounting the rest of the line ups is missing out on some great stuff IMHO.

As is my custom around these parts a couple of more obscure cuts
for your consideration my friends

This is the demo of what would become The Seventh Star w/ Glenn Hughes
singing on the official album. Here on the demo called Star of India.

Re: Black Sabbath (Official)

I finally have made it into this thread! :grinthumb

I'm a long time fan of this fantastic band! Over 40 years now! :wtf: ;)

I grew up listening to Black Sabbath, from the first album onward. When I think of Black Sabbath, I almost always think of the classic, original line up of Ozzy, Toni, Geezer and Bill Ward. Although Ozzy may not have been a phenomenal singer, he is the first person I think of as front man for the band. I also enjoy the other vocalists, their styles, efforts, abilities that do offer some things that Ozzy didn't possess, but Ozzy is the main front man for Black Sabbath, imo!

I have every album this fantastic band as made, and with many favorites among them, too.

A couple of older photos to include with all of the great ones already here.

This photo reminds me quite a lot of the band in concert!

I'm sure I'll be back to this thread, many times and hopefully often, too!

:cheers2

Smart move! :grinthumb

As for Black Sabbath, I like a few songws by them but I haven't explored them enough. My favourite by far is The Writ though:

Hahaa, makes me remember back when I was much younger when I thought 'metal' was evil and full of screaming xD
