Along those lines,an interesting tidbit - Luther Vandross was a backup singer for Utopia on tour in '76. I have a bootleg from that tour and you can pick his voice out easily. This was , of course, before he was "Luther Vandross". Vandross also sang backups on David Bowie's 'Young Americans".
