^ Sirenia is a little hard to pin down because Morten Veland has had three different singers, all great.

Early Sirenia (first 2 albums plus the EP) are closer to early Tristania (which Morten was in at the time).

The last three are more "normal" as far as song structure (female lead vocals w/some growling by Morten).

I have all the albums and recommend them highly.

Both Sirenia & Tristania are due for new albums this year. Should be a good year.

Sirenia I could recommend any album for the fact as you said they had different singers a fair chunk of their career. I like all of their vocals though so you can't go wrong with any album. :)

^ An absolutely great band!

Liv has also done some solo work & was involved in the early years of Theatre Of Tragedy when they were considered death/doom, gothic metal.

Evenoire is also another to consider too. I just discovered that band recently. Has gothic, symphonic and folk elements mixed together.

After doing backing vocals for Epica, Kamelot & others (as well as filling in for Simone in Epica on tour a couple years ago) and some solo work, Amanda Sommerville finally did a true metal album as Trillium.

Well, The best one is "Arch Enemy" , "The agonist" is a very good band too. Both are melodic death and mmm... in Alt.Metal you can try "Halestorm" . in heavy metal "Crusified Barbara" . In symphonic metal "Within Temptation" is a great choice . I hate Otep because she is feminist but some of the songs are really good. Hope you enjoy !
