They could have thrown in something like Pictures Of Lily though IMO most people that tune into things like the superbowl are only casual fans and know only the bigger hits.

How many people do we think watched it, heard Won't Get Fooled and said, "Oh They do this?" :heheh:

I'm sure we all have known someone that thought Baba O'riely was called Teenage Wasteland.

There's no point at all in discussing the songs they played. They have got to play the songs most people know at that kinda show. As it were they did exactly what you say, MP: made a lotta people go 'THEY did that??' :wtf::heheh:

Let's not forget 'the CSI angle' too. All but millions of people know the two theme songs but... do they know it's The Who? Now maybe people will flock to the computers to download a compilation cd and give them a bit of a renaissance... :grinthumb :bonk: :heybaby: :D

You can discuss setlists at shows but there are things bands do that are strictly commercial and the Super Bowl halftime show obviously is one of them. They'd have killed themselves commercially if they'd played songs people didn't know.

And btw, I think Roger did a great job. Some people plain don't like his singing and that's fine but don't blame it on his age.

If I'm not mistaken, every song they played is a theme song on a TV show on CBS. Don't think that's a coincidence.

I thought it was interesting that they had Pino Palladino playing bass when I had just seen him for the first time the day before when I watched a DVD of the John Mayer Trio. And I'm told the drummer was Zac Starkey, Ringo's kid.
