John Lennon had the worst solo output of all the Beatles.

I love John Lennon's solo stuff but I never understood all the hype about Harrison's All Things Must Pass. I have tried and tried to listen to that album. It puts me to sleep. :peek

I like Audioslave more than Soundgarden. Soundgarden for me was always just too traditional sounding. When I got into grunge, I already had an enormous classic rock collection and I liked grunge because it was something new for me. Soundgarden's more obvious classic rock influences worked against them and I found them more boring. That's also sort of how I feel about retro-rock bands. I do like The Black Crowes and Silvertide to an extent, but in my mind classic rock cannot be copied and any attempt to do so will result in failure. It had a special set of influences in the 60s & 70s, and anyone trying to recreate it outside of that bubble won't be able to hit the real nuances.

That's a bit of a strange opinion, but of course you are entitled to it. I always felt that Audioslave was like a slightly watered-down Soundgarden. Audioslave always came off to me as more straight-ahead rock than grunge. Whereas, Soundgarden took the best elements of Black Sabbath and made it into their own version of fiery, sometimes high speed grunge (Rusted Cage, Jesus Christ Pose etc.).

Anyway, I digress: My unpopular music opinions I guess are mostly just extremely popular bands that I just I don't get.

Such as:

Bob Dylan-- Terrible voice. I like some of his songs only when they're done by others.

Bruce Springsteen- Terrible voice

KISS- terrible poseur hair band. Is the make up supposed to distract from the fact that they can't write a decent song?

U2- I just don't know what it is about them that makes so many people like them

Nirvana-- "I think I'm dumb." You got that right.

I do like Bob Dylan myself, including his voice - it's not perfect, no, but it's very distinctive and suits his music and especially his often brilliant lyrics. Personally I'd rather listen to Dylan's voice than a singer like Adele.

Bruce Springsteen I'm indifferent to, interestingly the rest of my family are much the same on this. His voice isn't my favourite and I can't particularly relate to the themes in his music, but I don't really dislike him either.

I'm with MW about U2, taking the Joshua Tree as an example it has the well known (and for my money great) hit songs like With Or Without You or I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, but it also has songs such as the rather dark Exit and the understated but powerful Running To Stand Still which show different sides to the band.

Not a fan of KISS or Nirvana, the former are too showy for my liking and in the case of the latter I'm not big on grunge (although conversely I really like Neil Young with Crazy Horse).

Forgot to comment on this earlier...

I think The Breeders are way better than the Pixies. Pixies have some great ideas and I used to be really in awe of them, but I think at a closer look Francis is trying so hard to be quirky, that it becomes obnoxiously transparent. The Breeders are quirky as well but it seems like Kim either isn't trying as hard to be quirky, or she simply isn't as adept at it, because her music comes off as a lot more serious than Francis, even when she does a song that tries too hard, like When I Was a Painter.

I actually agree with you here. But I know very little about either band. From what little I've heard of the Pixies, I much prefer The Breeders' Cannonball to all of those songs.

I don't know. They just aren't for me. I can't take the screaming vocals and the fact that every album they ever made sounds exactly alike. They just never grew musically in my opinion, but if people dig their stuff, why should they. They are a band that I wouldn't go see if they were playing across the street from me and it was a free show. Only my opinion though. I realize many people like them.

That's cool man, to each their own. Check out the 2005 album Stiff Upper Lip. They did in fact change their sound a little.

I'm exaggerating the sentiment here so don't take this wrong but anyone who thinks the Pumpkins would've been better with a different vocalist is batshit insane!

I love the Death Magnetic album, there are times though that I hear what sounds like the set levels in the studio have peaked and there's some distorting happening. Some people say it's just the guitars, but you can tell the difference if you listen hard. Best example is during the instrumental section of The Day That Never Comes.

The problem is the really shitty production. Compressed drums, overly distorted guitar. Sounded like they played it under a very low roof type of building. The music itself is fine but suffered from the bullshit that is the loudness war.

Well, I will bite :). M.o.P is a classic metal album and imo way better then Reload which is considered much weaker by the masses.
So, how come you like Reload better??
