Tagging--A New Forum Feature

There have been gremlins popping up all the time recently, my e-mail notification for new posts is not working again, it comes and goes without me resetting anything.

People's post counts have been boosted, lord knows how or why but there you are.

The forum kicked me out a few days ago without any standard error message.

I'd say the Server needs a talking to.

I'm confused. ::

To mention (twitter and facebook users call it "tagging") someone be sure to use only one @ symbol with no spaces between the username and the symbol.

Also, you have to stop indiscriminately using this tagging feature. I'm getting an email for every one of your posts addressed to me. lol.

I knew you would be the first to address the emails...which is why I mentioned you. I wanted to see if the program was sending out emails. Obviously,it is.


I have now disabled all the email notifications associated with this new feature. If you still receive emails alerting you to tags, quotes, or mentions, please let me know.

@Shaggy The only tweak I made was to globally disable email notifications associated with the add on.

Mentions and quote notifications can be useful. But I don't understand the tagging of threads feature at all.

I don't understand the tagging feature at all either, and Magic when did you disable the email? I just logged in to my email on Tuesday night (6/17/14) at around 8:30 pm and I had a ton of email that weren't there last night.

Is there a way to delete mentions and quotes after we have read them, or will they just keep filling up?

Have you turned off your thread notification switch in your User CP panel?

I haven't got a single notice since the new feature was installed, not in my e-mail anyway but then again the server stopped sending notices a couple weeks ago, ghost in the machine strikes again is my theory.

I haven't looked at whether we can delete the notices in our profiles but if it bothers you just click it on the 'messages' button in your profile then you wont have to view the new page of tags etc.

I'm with you, Jake, I don't see the purpose of the thread tagging either......at least I don't feel it has much use except to draw someone's attention to a thread.

The thread tagging is part of the add on package, but I can disable it.

If you guys think the thread tagging is a waste, let me know and I will disable it.

I disabled the email for the new tagging yesterday (6/17)morning about 11 am eastern time. If you had email that was associated with a quote or mention, you received them before I disabled email for the new feature.

When I disabled the email, it was ONLY FOR THE TAGGING FEATURE. If you receive other email from CRF like thread notifications, you have to disable that in your UserCP. You will find that under "edit options"

It looks like we can't delete them.
