Hey everyone. Well Just got home from spending 4 hours with Dean. All I can say I was so happy to hang out and talk with him. Some one stole his ipod from his room so I brought a old school boom box and burned a bunch of cd's for him I knew he would want, some nightwish, the beatles, angel and new york dolls. so he was happy to have music lol. it was awesome to sit and listen to our cd for the first time as a whole band we actually never did that since we released the album. We were shocked that he sat there singing every word. His memory is off, there are things he can't remember and things he can. he seams a lot more relaxed and laid back but i bet those are the drugs hes on lol. He kept saying this is the first time i am hearing the cd right? it was hard to see he didn't quite remember things but as we talked his memory would come back. the nurse came in the room asked him what day it was he didn't know the year or the day, it is almost like he lost a big chunk of time. but we were told his memory will come back. he looked at me at one point and asked me if he was still in the band. i said dean its only been a few weeks man yes you are in the band. then he said with a smile I can still sing you know lol. I tried to log in the site here on my phone but couldn't get it to work. I did show him some posts and told him you guys were all thinking of him. I said you do remember the forum right? he said oh yeah. he didn't have his glasses so i read some of your posts and he just looked at me and said wow. tell them all thank you. It may be some time before he comes back on here but he hasn't forgotten. so it is slow but he is recovering well and with his therapy he should be back in no time at all. well that's it for now i will be visiting him more, he is unfortunately almost an hour away from me but we are going to start going there as much as we can. I will continue to update you guys as things get better!! :grinthumb

Thank you for the updates Pat. Hospitals are hard places to be in for extended periods of time (if at all), and I respect your continued efforts to bring us news and keep him connected to us.

Pat, thanks a TON for the updates. Seems we truly do have some good news with this latest update and I'm glad you had a good visit with him today. Hopefully the memory thing clears up. Getting back on his feet and back to day-to-day in his personal life is far more important than getting back here. Thanks for letting him know of our concerns. Again, very glad to hear he's doing better.

I tell you guys I hated to leave wish I was still there hanging out with him. It was hard to see him forgetting things. but at the same time I was amazed at the fact he could remember words to all these songs. His nurse said its amazing that when people go through this the most passionate things in that persons life never goes away. He said he knew who we were but we all looked different to him. when I walked in his room he just looked at me and said No shit.. lol so we had fun and he looked happy to see us. I have done research on this and the temporary memory loss is typical and almost always reversed. so I am hopeful that it will all come back. for now it will just take time.

Great news Pat, I'm sure you were ecstatic to finally get a chance to see him.:D

I am hoping his memories do come back, the brain is an amazing organ it will rewire itself over time so there is a good chance Dean will be 100% again.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Oh and I will listen to the new CD tomorrow, I've been waiting for the 'all clear' before checking it out.:)

It's so pitiful that in hospitals these days the staff steals anything they can get their hands on (not the nurses but the support crew), it's the same here they warn you not to bring anything of value because the chances are some a-holes will take it the moment you are asleep or out of the room.:nw:
