Anybody pick up the In Utero rerelease?

I think it's pretty cool. The new tracks aren't anything special but the new mix sounds excellent and has some interesting nuances that spice up an album many of us have heard a million times.

Here's something some of you might be happy to hear: it's mastered very noticeably softer than With The Lights Out was. Are the loudness wars over? I'm actually very disappointed about it because I immediately composed a playlist out of some of these tracks and some of the With The Lights Out In Utero-era material and now the sound is uneven.

Not one to pick up rereleases of an album I already own. I do have my original copy and I still like that one.

I lost my CD copy of In Utero years ago so this was a much-awaited buy for me.

It had a bunch of bonus tracks including some In Utero-era rarities like Marigold, Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol, Sappy, the Beavis & Butt-head studio version of I Hate Myself and Want To Die (released for the first time without B&B's intro) and a different version of "Moist Vagina" where Kurt changes the chorus to "Marijuana!!" Plus Steve Albini's original mix for Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies.

It also had a handful of demos which weren't particularly impressive and two new studio tracks "Jam," and "Forgotten Tune." Neither of them were especially good. Plus it came with the complete Live And Loud performance, if you bought the complete copy.

The loudness wars(brickwalling) are the STUPIDEST things engineers/producers have ever done using the new digital technology.:sm:

I keep hoping they are regaining their sanity and allow us to use our own volume controls to find the sound we want.

As far as the new In Utero CD goes, I haven't listened to Nirvana for years. I'm not a hater but there are other bands from that period I like far more.

Probably won't get it, I have the original and I didn't mind the loudness and rawness with Nirvana as they were a pretty in-your-face band anyway - the Rush' Vapor Trails' re-mix re-release though which I got when it was released a few weeks ago is very well done, and improves on the deafening original.
