^^I'll get 100 times more enjoyment watching the Euro and the Tour than any Olympic sport...it's lost whatever meaning it used to have when the idea of athletes getting together in the spirit of friendship and sportmanship, now it's a commercial bloated corrupt caricature of a once Noble idea.

As I age...gracefully...:D....I am leaning towards that old Biblical quote being one of the ultimate truths in the world...Money is the root of all evil, seems to be at it's worst right now.

How much did London pay for the Privilege of hosting the games this summer??

I won't be watching any of the Olympics,,,so it doesn't bother me at all that Jimmy's being snubbed by the Nobs who are running the show.

I will be watching the Euro and Tour de France though.:D

Won't be long 'til the Tour is happening LG. I enjoy watching it too :grinthumb

France is a beautiful country, and the amount of effort those cyclists put into the race astounds me, I can't think of anything else that would be as hard as what they do.

Hopefully Cadel is in good form this year...and I believe Contador is still suspended and deservedly so.

I don't know what you think LG but I get really annoyed with how slack some of the spectators are. I don't like how they stick their arms right out and practically touch the cyclists as they pass by and one twit last year let his dog run right out in front of them :wtf: France is indeed a beautiful country. My Dad is trying to persuade my Mum to go one year when the Tour is happening.

Isn't the Tour de France an annual event? The Olympics are so much more special because they only come around every so often, and people work and train their entire lives to make it there. I've heard some really inspiring stories of people coming to America and escaping from poverty and violence to come here and practice and make it there. It's not the athletes' fault if the advertising is taking over. It certainly doesn't take away from my enjoyment and I'd watch that over cycling anyday. :D

^^The Olympics are overblown overhyped and extremely boring to me, I've given up watching them years ago.

The amount of effort the cyclists put out over the 3 week Tour de France is mind boggling, nothing in the Olympics can touch it for the amount of heart and soul they put into it.

Yes it's a yearly event, and it's been tainted by scandals as well but it remains a singular sporting event that I enjoy because I know how hard it is to finish a race of that magnitude.

Olympics = FIFA = Formula One for the most corrupt sporting organizations in the world period.

End rant.;)

I guess I don't see it, but I'll agree to disagree that the games are more boring than watching cycling for X amount of days. It's like the manual version of NASCAR to me. ;)

I've always appreciated that the Olympics brought all walks of life from across the globe together in the spirit of sportsmanship. I can't think of any other even on the planet that does that, or at least to that extent. It also gives underprivileged athletes a chance at the world stage and some of the best moments in sports have happened during the games. Gymnastics and swimming are tops for me. The athletes can't help it if the committee, advertising or whatever are corrupt, and it certainly doesn't lessen their accomplishments. I'll definitely be watching. :)

I said that in my post if you bothered to read it Snoopy...;)

And yeah the Olympics Dwarfs every other event in the world when it comes to corruption...no matter what sport you are talking about.

I can't remember all the scandals that have gone on when it comes to competing to host the damned games.

The Tour de France is not in the same league as far as money goes or exposure but the effort those athletes put out is in a class above any Olympic sport...period.
