I don't get how people will sit through a 4 hour Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings movie but whoa shit a ten minute Dream Theater song is too long. I suppose it's all relative.

I like Lord Of The Rings but I had to giggle...I thought of Clerks II straight away when I read your post.

I would prefer a DT album go for 4 hours then ever have to watch Harry Potter again. :heheh:

I love that scene. :heheh: Actually, I love that whole movie. Actually, I love Clerks in general. :grinthumb

Likewise. One of my friends made me watch it with them once and I spent the whole movie taking jabs at it so.....now they don't ask me to watch Harry Potter with them anymore. :heheh:

Once I snuck earphones into class when everyone was watching Harry Potter and I had music going, lights were off so no one could tell I was doing that. I had Ac/dc on at the time but Dream Theater would have been just as good at that time, would have killed the time nicely with their longer tracks.

I listened to Black Clouds And Silver Linings at work today, it was fantastic! The structure of this song in particular is flawless, especially the chorus. It builds and changes like a 20 minute epic even though it's only 8 minutes long:

But my favourite is still The Count Of Tuscany, (Which is a 20 minute epic) just because it's so grandiose and beautiful! :D

While I don't put "Systematic Chaos" as one of Dream Theater's best albums it is by no means a bad album. I especially love "Ministry of Lost Souls". The chords used in the intro are very powerful and I love John's acoustic work in the beginning enough that I'm learning how to play it right now. :good

I'm glad they're over losing Portnoy, and will get the new album as soon as it's out.:D
