Seriously, I'm losing a bit of respect with each passing week (or so it seems) since he seem to simply NOT be able to STFU about VH. Please Sam, I beg you, continue with what you are doing, have fun with it and stop being a douche about everything connected with VH.

All these years, we've been led to believe that Eddie is the big A-hole in the band and the reason for DLR, Sammy and Michael all leaving at the times they did. Is there maybe more to the sorry we don't know, like the fact that maybe it was 2 a-holes and only one pot to poop in, thus you know there'll be one hell of a mess to clean up after the smoke clears.

Alex has certainly been no angel either from what I can gather. He had a drink problem at one time I believe as well as his brother.

Seeing as the brothers are the only permanent fixture in this turbulent band, blood is thicker than water. Especially now that Wolfgang is playing bass.

I'm about as bad as Sammy I guess harping about the whole reason he has for spouting off but think about it.. Both brother speak another language and if they don't want Sammy to know what their talking about they speak Danish.. That kinda makes you think their hiding something right? So then take into account they use their last name. It's not Van Roth or Van Haggar.. That's another thing that would crawl under your skin if you were DLR or Sammy.. And of course take into account the guys that are fighting with them are... Frontman.. Kinda like what is most drama started by in a group? most of the time the frontman's mouth..
So you got two diffiant brothers who think they are the band.. against two previous rock stars who feel they have a say so as far as how things work.. Both write the songs for the band..
Kinda reminds me of the scene in the movie "Rock Star" Where Crizzy comes back with a whole bunch of new songs he wrote on the brake and Kurt Cutty tells him pretty much he's a singer for hire..

It was Dave that suggested the name Van Halen. Apparently the brothers wanted to call the band Rat Salad after the Black Sabbath song.

It's the frontmen that leave you're right, but I think Eddie Van Halen has the same problem that Slash* does. Now I know Slash is the most super awesome popular best person ever in the history of the planet to pick up the guitar, and when you reach the level of adoration that EVH and Slash did - reinventing the instrument pretty much [I disagree about Slash but it's almost universally accepted now] - anyone that stands in the way of that will be cut down.

With regards to Michael Anthony though, I wonder if EVH has had it in his mind since before the 2004 tour with Hagar that he wanted Wolfie in the band? Plus, I read somewhere Wolfgang turned round to Edward one day and said "you should reunite with Dave and play the old shit."

whats with all the sammy hate? its becoming really old, this dave versus sammy nonsense. i have all the van halen albums except the new one and there is some fantastic music from both eras.
maybe people should read between the lines and realise that eddie was, is and always will be the problem with the band.
sammy and dave toured together i dont see any bad blood anymore between them.
maybe sammy is a really good freind of mike anthonys and is probably disgusted about the way mike was treated. remember them erasing mike's picture from the first album?

I'm with you Foreverblue.. Your kinda catching the tail end of many a Sammy Van Halen thread.. By now we are just saying the only stuff that's left to say.. no hate for anybody as far as the guys go..

I am in the same boat. I haven't heard any of Chickenfoot as yet but this always makes it less motivating to even bother. lol
